WikiGroups

Start forming new networks by joining or creating a group. Perhaps you want to add your research lab to a growing database of other labs around the world to increase your lab's exposure. Or set up a group for your class or department in the university category visible only to that university's members.
WikiGroups are for the sciences, non-science academics, non-profits, societies and other institutes wanting to promote their knowledge.
Features
-Calendar with group editing
-News board
-Publications list
-Protocols
-Photo albums
*for research or personal photos
-Group forums

Colleagues

You can add colleagues while on anyone's profile page. Once your request is approved they will appear in your colleagues list.
Notes
You can add a private note to find colleagues later. Useful if you've added dozens of colleagues who you are not too familiar with but might want to contact in the future. Notes can also be made for non-colleagues when on their profile page.
Searching is easy, it's located right on your colleagues list.

My World

You might belong to multiple WikiGroups and have added too many colleagues to keep track of. "My World" pulls in all that data from around Ologeez and gives you the highlights.
You'll also be able to choose various news sources to be pulled in from around the Internet in "News I Choose." Examples include the journal Science, New York Times, Nature, and many more.
The "My Seminars" feature tracks the seminars at your university that you would be most interested and they appear at the top of seminar results. This also depends on you adding seminars for others to see.
Libraries

Instead of having hundreds of research papers scattered around on your hard drive, use libraries to easily organize them.
Keep track of all citations you find interesting by creating libraries. They're like folders on your computer.
Look for the add icon next to each abstract on Ologeez and click to add to a library. Go to your library and do a one click import to EndNote (BibTex coming soon).

Paper Search
Advanced Search
Once you are a registered user you can take advantage of Advanced Search features such as the PubMed interface.
The PubMed search has been designed to provide a more intuitive search experience and give you relevant results faster.
Continued refinement of the search algorithm is a major aim of Ologeez!

Categories
Each abstract is placed into a category and subcategory. By organizing information by category, searches become faster and more relevant.
Choose a main category near the top of the page. A list of subcategories will appear. Click on a subcategory and start browsing. Or filter advanced search queries by category.

Tags
Use the tags instead. For example, after choosing "biology" and then subcategory "Cancer Bio," I can then click the Tag Cloud link at the top of the page. I will then see the top keywords or tags within Cancer Bio and can click any tag to see papers using that included that tag.
Profiles
Visit any user's profile and you will find papers that they have submitted and commented on with links to each abstract.
Rate
Log in and after reading an abstract and the rest of the article hover your cursor over the number of stars you feel the paper deserves and click. That's it!

Sort
You can sort papers by their rating or by the number of votes. Each has a purpose. Perhaps you want to find a really poor paper to take into a discussion section and see if the class agrees. Or maybe you want to avoid a costly mistake before embarking on an architecture project, then learn through ratings and comments on a paper with your idea.
Recommendations
There are countless papers that get ignored simply because manual searches can't correlate two papers from different fields together. The recommendation engine takes into account how you rate papers and how other users rate papers and finds papers for you. The more papers you submit and rate, the smarter the recommendation algorithm becomes!
Discuss
Make a comment on any paper or reply to another user's comment. If you see a comment that is inappropriate then click the flag icon and we'll review it.

Submit
Two methods
PubMed users will find it very intuitive to both search and add papers from PubMed within the Ologeez website. Just click "Add Papers" after logging in and use the batch PubMed form. Or after doing a search, you will have the option to view PubMed results.
The second method is to click "Submit a paper" that is located in the blue navigation bar at the top of every page within the Ologeez website. You will then copy/paste the URL, title, abstract, etc...
Hints & Guidelines
Avoid everyday news articles and try to submit abstracts from articles you have read in peer-reviewed journals. In some fields, peer-reviewed journals do not exist and in that case trade papers or other high quality academic work is welcome.
Copyright
We can only accept abstracts and not entire articles. This is to keep in compliance with copyright laws. Any submissions that violate copyright will be removed.
